SSC CGL exam pattern 2022 - Tier 1

Aspirants who successfully submit the SSC CGL application form 2022, are eligible to appear in the tier exam of SSC CGL. The SSC CGL tier 1 exam is conducted in computer based online mode. The questions in the SSC CGL tier 1 will be based on subjects such as General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude and English Comprehension.

In the SSC CGL tier 1 there will be a penalty for wrong answers attempted by the candidate. There is a negative marking of 0.50 Marks for each wrong answer.   • It is a computer based objective type online exam
  • It consists of Objective Type, Multiple choice questions.

SSC CGL exam pattern 2022 - Tier 2

Candidates who qualify in tier 1 will be eligible to appear in tier 1. As per the exam pattern of SSC CGL 2022, tier 2 is also conducted in computer based online mode, however, the difficulty level will be a bit higher as compared to tier 1.

The questions asked in tier 2 will be based on - Quantitative Ability, Statistics, General Studies (Finance & Economics) and English Language & Comprehension. From the following table, candidates can check the information of the SSC CGL exam pattern 2022 for tier 2.

Points to note:

  • Paper-I and -II of Tier-II are compulsory for all posts.
  • Paper-III needs to be given by candidates who apply for the posts of Junior Statistical Officer (JSO) in the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation and who are shortlisted in Tier-I for the Posts.
  • Paper-IV needs to be given by candidates who are shortlisted in Tier-I for the posts of Assistant Audit Officer/ Assistant Accounts Officer.
  • There will be a negative marking of 0.50 for each wrong answer.

Tier-II has four papers of 500 MCQs questions and each paper to be completed in 120 minutes.

SSC CGL exam pattern 2022 - Tier 4

As per the SSC CGL 2022 exam pattern, the tier 4 is a computer skill test which is conducted in two steps: Data Entry Speed Test (DEST) & CPT Test (Computer proficiency test). According to the exam pattern of SSC CGL 2022, in DEST candidates will have to type 2000 words in 15 minutes on a computer in English. This test is conducted to check a candidate's writing skills. The test is for the post of Tax Assistant (Central Excise and Income Tax).

The CPT on the other hand is conducted to check a candidate's proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets and generation of slides. The duration of each module will be of 15 minutes one after the other. It is for the post of Assistant (CSS).

Both these tests are qualifying in nature.
