NTA JEE Main Result 2022 - Normalization Process

Because the JEE Main examination is conducted in two sessions, the level of difficulty also varies and to deal with this, the process of normalization is used by authorities. The normalized JEE Main 2022 scores released by NTA indicate the percentage of candidates whose scores are equal or below the scores of the candidate who scored the highest in that particular session. The formula used for calculation NTA scores is shown below:

Formula - (100 x number of candidates appeared in the session with raw score equal to or less than the candidate) / total number of candidates appeared in that session

Candidates may note that the normalized NTA score is not the same as that of the percentage of marks obtained in the examination.

JEE Main Result 2022 - Percentile Calculation

The National Testing Agency calculates the JEE Main for the purpose of percentile for individual subjects separately (Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics) as well as in the combined format using the normalization formula as shown below.

Total Percentile (T1P):

(100 x No. of candidates from the session with raw score equal to or less than T1 score) / Total No. of candidates appeared in the session

Mathematics Percentile (M1P)

(100 x No. of candidates appeared from the session with raw score equal to or less than than M1 score in Mathematics)
