JoSAA Seat Allocation 2021 - Joint Seat Allocation Authority has declared the JoSAA round 5 seat allotment on November 14 at josaa.nic.in. Candidates can accept a seat by paying a required fee from November 15 to 16. Earlier, JoSAA 2021 round 2, 3 & 4 seat allotment results were released on November 1, 6, and 11 respectively. Candidates can check the status of the JoSAA seat allotment by logging into the official website using JEE Main 2021 application number and password. The authorities are conducting six rounds of JoSAA seat allocation 2021. The authorities has released two mock JoSAA seat allocation on the basis of choice filled during JoSAA counselling 2021 before the final allotments on October 22 and 24. Document verification for acceptance of seat or withdrawal of seat by physical mode at Admitting/Allotted Institutes only (Round 6) (For NIT+ system). In case, the situation does not permit the physical presence of the candidate at the admitting Institute, the above process will be done online.

JoSAA Seat Allocation 2021 - Mock Round

The JoSAA authorities opened the window for candidates to register and fill in their choices on October 16 to 25. The authorities have released 2 mock seat allocations on October 22 and 24 respectively. Candidates were advised to choose as many programs and institutes they could. Candidates were required to lock their choices within the final date. If they fail to lock the choices then their last saved choices will automatically be selected.During the seat allocation of JoSAA 2021, the authorities will segregate the candidates into the following categories:

  • GEN

  • GEN PwD

  • OBC-NCL

  • OBC-NCL PwD

  • SC

  • SC PwD

  • ST

  • ST PwD

  • Foreign

JoSAA Seat Allocation 2021

The authorities is conducting six rounds of JoSAA seat allocation. It will be done on the basis of the merit of the candidates, category, selected preferences and availability of seats. Candidates who are allotted seats have to download the provisional seat allotment letter and an e-challan to remit seat acceptance fee. Candidates should follow the below-given steps to download the provisional seat allotment letter:

Step 1 - Visit the official website of JoSAA 2021.

Step 2 - Click on the seat allotment link

Step 3 - Login using the JEE Main 2021 roll number and password

Step 4 - Click on the “Submit” button

Step 5 - Upon successful login, provisional JoSAA 2021 seat allotment letter will be displayed.

Step 6 - Download and take a print out of the allotment letter.

What after JoSAA Seat Allocation 2021?

Once the authorities allot seats, the candidates will have the select opt for any one of the following options:

  • Freeze - Candidate is satisfied with the allotted seat and does not wish to participate in the further rounds of JoSAA counselling.

  • Float - Candidate is satisfied with the seat but would like to be considered for other institutes during the future rounds of JoSAA seat allocation.

  • Slide - Candidate accepts the allotted seat but is also open for admission into a higher preferred course in the same institute.

Candidates who accept the seat will have to pay the seat acceptance fee using the e-challan or SBI Net Banking. Since the admission fee of each institute varies, candidates will have to only pay the seat acceptance fee which will be adjusted against the admission fee.

After accepting a seat, candidates will have to report at the reporting centre for document verification as per the specified date and time. Candidates who will fail to accept the seat or report on time will not be considered for admission. It should be noted that original documents will be required at the time of document verification.

Can a candidate withdraw a seat after accepting it?

Yes, the authorities will allow candidates to withdraw a seat after accepting but it can be done only before the last round of seat allocation of JoSAA 2021. In such case, seat acceptance fee will be refunded to the candidates after deducting the processing charges of Rs. 1500. Withdrawal of seats will not be accepted after the announcement of the last round JoSAA seat allocation 2021.

Steps to withdraw a seat

  • Visit the JoSAA portal.

  • Fill in the account details to which the seat acceptance fee shall be refunded.

  • Upload the image of a cancelled cheque of the same account in JPG format.

  • Download the withdrawal request letter.

  • After downloading the letter, candidates and his/her parents have to sign the withdrawal request letter and report at a reporting centre to vacate the seat.

Dual reporting for document verification

  • If a candidate has chosen a float option while accepting the seat allotted in an IIT in one round and in an NIT/IIIT/GFTI in a subsequent round, then he or she will be required to report at the institute again for document verification.

  • Similarly, if a candidate is allocated a seat in an NIT / IIEST/IIIT (Triple-I-T) or Other-GFTI in one round and in an IIT in a subsequent round, then he or she will be required to report at the institute again for document verification.

Note: If candidates fail to report again for document verification, then the allotted seats will be rejected. Also, a candidate will not be allowed to participate in further rounds of seat allotment.
