TNEA 2024 Tie-Breaking Policy

A large number of candidates apply for Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions and many of them hold the same scores in qualifying examinations. In case two or more candidates have an equal score in the qualifying exam, then the authorities need to find a solution to end any confusion at the time of admissions. To break the tie in TNEA 2024, the following rules are followed:

• In the case of a tie, the candidate with a higher percentage in Mathematics is given a higher rank.

• If the tie persists, the candidate with a higher percentage of marks in Physics will get a higher rank.

• If this still doesn’t work, then the candidate with higher percentage marks in the optional (fourth) subject will be given a higher rank.

• If the tie anyhow persists, the date of birth of such candidates will be considered so that the candidate older in age is ranked higher.

• If the tie still persists, then only the authorities shall use Tamil Nadu random number 2024 to break the tie. The random number higher in value will be given preference.
