SLAT 2021 - Writing Ability Test (Topics) (30 min)

It was conducted immediately after SLAT exam. The following topics were included in WAT round.

The SLAT admit card was released on June 29. Earlier it commenced the SLAT 2021 IRC (Infrastructure Readiness Check) option for the candidates. The admit card is released in online mode, following the slot booking process. The university will conduct online home proctored SLAT 2021 from July 10 to July 12, on multiple days and slots.LATEST: SLAT Admit Card 2021 released; slot booking commenced. For remote proctored mode, the test structure of SET Law has also been changed, the number of questions has been reduced from 75 to 60 (Check the detailed SLAT syllabus for more details).

SLAT 2021 will be conducted for admission for BA LLB and BBA LLB courses offered by the affiliated law schools. After the test, a writing assessment test will also be conducted. SET Law will consist of 60 objective type questions to be asked from topics such as current affairs, general knowledge, legal and logical aptitude.

After the entrance test, the SIU will release SLAT scorecard on July 27. However, WAT will be evaluated by the law colleges separately.

Successful candidates will be called for a personal interview (PI). Admission to symbiosis law schools (SLSs) will be offered on the basis of the candidate’s performance in the entrance test and PI and WAT round. SLAT 2021 Selection Process

Admissions to UG law courses of symbiosis law schools are offered through an entrance test, writing ability test and an interview round. Note that, under the SLAT selection process, the SIU conducts a common entrance examination for affiliated law schools. The entrance test is followed by a 30-minute writing ability test. However, the scores of WAT are not shared with the candidates at the time of result declaration. Candidates shortlisted based on the SLAT scores will be called for the PI round which is conducted separately by each participating law school. SLAT 2021 Application Form

The exam conducting body released the application form of SLAT on January 28, at Eligible candidates were able to fill the application in online mode. The SLAT application process is explained below.

Step - 1: SLAT registration

Candidates had to complete the registration at To register for SLAT 2021, candidates were required to enter details such as name, mobile no. email ID etc.

STEP - 2: Fill the application form

After completing the registration, candidates had to log in to the SET admission portal using the ID and password generated during registration. The application form requires the candidates to provide personal information, communication details, education qualification details etc. In this step candidates will also have to provide the choice of course.

Step - 3: Fee payment

The SLAT 2021 application form fees must be paid in online mode. The authorities provided a payment gateway through which the candidates could submit their application fee. One may use credit card or debit card or net banking facilities to submit the application fee.

The WAT is a test of a candidate's ability to write. In WAT round candidates have to write a short essay on a given topic. The topic can be taken from a current political or legal issue. The scores of WAT will not be announced at the time of result declaration. It will be used at the time of final selection.

SLAT 2021 Admit Card

Successfully registered candidates can download the SLAT admit card from June 29, 2021. The admit card of SLAT is an important document for appearing in the examination. It is mandatory for every candidate to carry the admit card to the SLAT exam centre failing which the authorities do not allow the candidate to appear in the examination.

The SLAT 2021 admit card also carries some vital details related to the exam, these include - exam centre address, roll number and application number of candidate, exam timings and instructions for the exam day. The SLAT hall ticket can be downloaded by following the steps mentioned below.

  • Visit the SET admission portal

  • Click on SLAT admit card link

  • Login using the SET ID and password

  • The admit card will be displayed on the screen.

  • Download and take a colour print out of the admit card.

SLAT 2021 Result

The authorities will declare the result of SLAT 2021 on July 27, 2021. The SLAT result is declared in online mode in the form of a scorecard. The SLAT score card will carry the details such as marks obtained by the candidate, roll number, ranking in merit list, provisional qualifying status etc. Note that Symbiosis doesn’t release the answer key and the result is a final document on the candidate's performance. SLAT 2021 PI round

The candidates shortlisted on the basis of SLAT result are called for a Personal Interview. Note that SLAT PI round is conducted separately by all the participating institutes of the SET law. A candidate may appear in PI of a law school only if he/she has registered for admission while filling the application form. The PI rounds are generally conducted in offline mode at the campus of the law schools by a panel of experts from Industry / Academic. In PI round candidates are asked questions related to their education, hobbies, the details provided in the CV. Both PI and WAT rounds carry a huge role in the SLAT selection process as they carry 50% weightage in merit calculation.

Documents to carry for SLAT PI round

To appear in SLAT 2021 PI round, candidates will have to carry the following documents.

  • 12th class mark sheet,

  • Provisional passing certificate of Class 12th

  • Caste and category certificate issued by the competent authorities for SC/ST/KM/DA candidates.

  • Photo identity proof such as Aadhar card, License, PAN card,

  • Certificates of curricular, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities if any.

Note that all documents should be self-attested.

SLAT Counselling 2021

It is conducted along with the PI round. The SLAT 2021 counselling is also conducted in offline mode. The main objective of SLAT counselling is to verify the details submitted by the candidates. Candidates have to submit the documents as given earlier in PI section. The institute will check the validity of all documents to confirm the eligibility of the candidate. Candidates shortlisted after PI round will have to submit the course fee at the institute.

SLAT Merit List 2021

The law schools participating in SLAT 2021 release the admission merit list in multiple rounds. The SLAT 2021 merit list will contain the names and roll numbers of the candidates shortlisted for admissions. Each Symbiosis Law School releases a separate merit list. The SLAT merit is calculated on a scale of 100 on the basis of the following criteria.

SLAT Cut Off 2021

The law school of Symbiosis releases the SLAT 2021 cut off separately for all categories. The SLAT cut off is released after each round of merit declaration. The cut off of SLAT 2021 will be the last rank considered for admissions. Candidates who do not secure a rank under the final cut off (Last round cut off) will not be able to get admission. Candidates may check the SLAT cut off of previous years to understand the marks required for admissions to a particular law school.

SLAT Eligibility Criteria 2021

There is a common eligibility criterion of SLAT for admissions to all affiliated law schools of SIU. The SLAT UG eligibility criteria are given in terms of educational qualification, minimum marks in qualifying exam and age limit. The details of SLAT 2021 eligibility criteria are given below.

Educational qualification - The candidate should have passed Class 12th or an equivalent grade examination from a recognized board. Note that those appearing in the qualifying examination are also eligible to appear in Symbiosis Law Aptitude Test.

Minimum marks in qualifying examination - The candidates must score at least 45% marks in qualifying examination. SC and ST candidates must score at least 40% marks in the qualifying exam.

Age limit - There is no age limit for appearing in SLAT 2021.
