As per the CLAT exam analysis, the good score in CLAT will be near 100. It can give the candidates a seat in the top 3 NLUs. Getting a seat in NLSIU Banglore with a rank of 80 or more will be difficult for candidates who are from the general, all India category. The Karnataka Student category may benefit the candidates who are from Karnataka. For NALSAR Hyderabad, candidates should have a rank within 200-220 if they are from the general and all India category. While students with 350 rank can expect a seat in NLU Jodhpur. Candidates' choice for RGNLU Patiala will be governed by several factors such as their marks, rank, distance from home and others. Last year, the general category cut off for RGNLU was 1012 and the corresponding marks were 77.5. This year, the paper was slightly easier so, the cut off is likely to go high. But, RGNLU is not in the league of top 4-5 NLUs, so, there will be relatively less competition. Candidates with a score near 75-80 may secure a seat in RGNLU Patiala. Also check - RGNLU Patiala fee structure and seat matrixNIRF Rank - 07 - Gujrat National Law Law University
GNLU is ranked in 7th position in NIRF law school ranking in 2020. Candidates preference for GNLU depends on factors such as place, the law courses offered by the university. Most importantly, the GNLU will be opted by those candidates who could not secure a seat in top 4 NLUs. Some would also prefer NLU Odisha or NLU Bhopal even if they secure a rank well within what is required for admission to GNLU.
So, considering all these factors, and last year's general/open category cut off for GNLU (Rank 470, Marks - 83.75), it can be concluded that those with a rank within 500 may get GNLU if it is their first/second or third choice. By the time of third round of counselling and spot round of admission, candidates within 500 rank or who are in a score band of 82-85 should be able to get a seat in GNLU, Gujrat. Also check - Fee structure and seat matrix for GNLU GandhinagarNIRF Rank - 06 - WBNUJS Kolkata: Rank and cut off analysis
WBNUJS Kolkata is ranked 4th in the list of NIRF 2020 top law schools in India. Most CLAT aspirants prefer WBNUJS Kolkata if they could not secure a seat in NLSIU Bangalore and NALSAR Hyderabad.
Last year, the university had a higher cut off than NLU Jodhpur which has a better rank than WBNUJS in NIRF 2020 list. The minimum marks required for admission to WBNUJS for an open category candidate were 88.25 which was converted to a rank of 227.
A similar trend can be observed this year too. The cutoff for WBNUJS may remain around 225-240 but the minimum marks required may go slightly up (in the band of 87-95) as CLAT this year was relatively difficult as reported by the students. Also, check - WBNUJS Fee structure and seat matrixNIRF Rank - 05 - NLU Jodhpur: Previous year trends and safe rank for this year
NLU Jodhpur is considered the third best law school in India as per the NIRF Law ranking of 2020. So, it is obvious to get a third preference in the list of colleges. However, along with NLU Jodhpur, many candidates may also consider opting for WBJNUS Kolkata, which is equally good and has seen a higher cut off last year when compared to NLU Jodhpur.
Considering the last year's cut off and today's exam analysis, candidates who have a rank within 350 can expect to get a seat in NLU Jodhpur if they belong to the general or all India category. Last year, the minimum marks required to get a seat in NLU Jodhpur for a general/all India category candidate were 86. This year, a score of 85-92 can be expected to be a good score for NLU Jodhpur. Also Check - NLU Jodhpur fee structure and seat matrixNIRF Rank 03 - What can be a safe rank to get a seat in NALSAR Hyderabad?
NALSAR Hyderabad is the second most sought NLU. It is 3rd best law school in India as per the NIRF ranking of top law colleges.
Last year, the last rank for NALSAR was 177 for general category candidates. The corresponding marks with this rank were 89..75. The university offers 120 sears in a 5-year LLB programme out of which 86 are available for all India candidates. Considering the easy-moderate level of CLAT and previous year trends, candidates who are from the general category and have a rank less than 200 should be able to secure a seat in NALSAR Hyderabad. Candidates may have to secure at least 92-98 marks to get a seat in NALSAR Hyderabad. Also check - NALSAR Hyderabad Fee strucutre and seat matrixNIRF Rank - 01: Safe rank for NLSIU Banglore (Seats are less for all India category this year compared to last year
NLSIU Bangalore offers 93 seats in total in 5-year integrated LLB programmes. Out of this, 70 seats will be available for candidates who are from the India category.Given that NLSIU Bangalore is the top-ranked NLU in India, most candidates give first preference to it at the time o counselling. So, an 80-90+ rank in CLAT 2021 will make it difficult for candidates to secure a seat in NLSIU Bangalore unless they are from the Karnataka Students category or any other reserved category. Last year, the one who scored 92 marks was able to secure a seat in NLSIU Bangalore. However, this year seats are less this year, which means, the candidates should have a score more than 98-100 to get a seat in NLSIU Bangalore. Also check - NLSIU Banglore fee structure and seat matrix
